About Corps Monitoring FAQ

All you need to know about our state-of-the-art remote monitoring and alarm receiving services from one of the UK’s leading security specialists.

Corps of Commissionaires, now Corps Security, was founded in 1859 by Captain Sir Edward Walter (1823-1904) and was initially created to provide employment for ex-servicemen on return from the Crimean War. By 1880, the Corps of Commissionaires was operating in London, Belfast, and Liverpool, with over 1,000 members. In 1901 His Majesty King Edward VII consented to head the Corps of Commissionaires’ board of governors and HM Queen Elizabeth II remains the head of the organisation to this very day.

Corps Security has been providing dedicated security services for over 160 years, becoming the UK’s most established and respected security services provider.  Corps Security’s flagship service is manned guarding.

In 2003, Corps Security invested in the Corps Monitoring Centre (CMC), now one of the UK’s leading CCTV monitoring companies, to begin supplying electronic remote monitoring solutions and CCTV monitoring services to complement its manned guarding offering.

By 2007, further investment was made and our custom designed alarm receiving centre (ARC) was constructed to support the growth the Corps Monitoring electronic security division.

Built at a cost of £1.5m, the Corps Monitoring Centre (CMC) caters for security across a multitude of sectors from retail and corporate to residential and hospitality, offering a diverse range of services including:

Our surveillance is 24/7, 365 days a year so we’re always at hand when you need us. Customers use these services on an independent basis, or as part of an integrated solution incorporating physical security and technology. We invest in the latest technology which exemplifies our commitment to innovation and forward thinking. This, combined with our team of fully trained and experienced operatives, ensures the fastest possible response times and a level of service that is unsurpassed within the remote monitoring sector. We also have a network of trusted, reliable partners.

Three engineers are permanently based in the CMC control room. They each attend installation and maintenance courses for the main transmission and ancillary equipment installed at our customers’ sites. This, along with the input and advice from our IT colleagues, enables us to ensure that our installation partners always receive the very highest level of support from us on a 24/7 basis.

As a fully independent monitoring centre, we are not partnered with any installation companies, and we do not install any equipment ourselves. This allows us to provide the monitoring solutions that are right for your environment without being caught up in the hardware. We can then do what we do best – monitor our customers assets, property and people.

We continually invest in our employees and ensure they are given the required level of training to provide optimum service levels and enhance their careers. By investing in our colleagues we provide unrivalled levels of service to our customers, who entrust to us with the protection of their people, property, and assets. We look after our staff, and they look after our clients.

Because the tech landscape is forever changing, at Corps Monitoring we only implement the best, most cutting-edge technologies. To us, it is important we continuously expand the knowledge and skill set of our team.  We care about colleague progression and wellbeing.

Our operators are qualified and licenced under the Security Industry Authority (SIA). Our team doesn’t just monitor CCTV solutions or respond to alarms. They’re dedicated experts that have a keen eye for details and a passion for safeguarding the people, property and assets they are looking after and identifying any causes for concern. Some of our employees have been with us for over a decade. We have some of the best levels of staff retention in the industry.

Our friendly team works hand in hand with you to provide the right robust, cutting-edge, innovative solutions that are fit for purpose, safeguarding what matters to you most.
