    Corps Secure

Corps Monitoring is complemented by Corps Secure, our unique reporting portal and app. This provides customers with full transparency of their portfolio with a live real-time view of their account, in addition to the bespoke fire alarmmonitoring service. If a property has been at risk of fire, then the customer has full visibility at the click of a button. Customers can also conveniently manage their statements, download invoices, and view their finances all from the same place!

We also offer our Sentinel engineer portal. This allows engineers to view the live signals being received and automatically test systems, eliminating the need to check signals and make calls to place systems on test (however we are still here to provide this service as and when required).

The Sentinel administration portal also allows customers to make minor changes such as running reports and updating keyholders by having an admin view of their account. The Sentinel Plus suite allows us to schedule automated reporting either daily, weekly or monthly. This typically includes reports on portfolio signal summaries, as well as incidents, and open/close reports.

Understanding potential threats – Fire alarm monitoring

An important starting point should be becoming familiar with the key potential threats to your organisation is. It’s difficult to put fire alarm monitoring measures in place that end up limiting the exposure to risk unless the likely sources of potential threat are identified. Locations that are close to major public infrastructure such as universities, hospitals, or travel hubs, are more likely to be at risk of attack than others. This is mainly because your business might be exposed to a fire or explosion from a neighbouring building or become caught up in an attack.

Know your neighbours and try to understand their potential threats because they could end up being yours too. If your organisation is involved in, or supplies products/services to organisations involved in potentially contentious activities including any financial services, oil and gas, meat production, animal testing, arms procurement, tobacco or gambling, then you may be at a higher risk. Recognising where you sit on the threat scale means you can then plan accordingly wherever possible.

    Fires don’t take time off

With many of the UK workforce furloughed over the past two-years, businesses have faced long periods of closure, which raised the risk of arson. In fact, in August 2020, an analysis of fire claim submissions from the first series of lockdowns across domestic and commercial properties, including outbuildings and outdoor areas, found:

    • An increase in fire claims by 40%
    • 36.1% of outbuilding fires were arson cases
    • Of all fires, 60.1% occurred in outbuildings or outside

The pandemic put business leaders and commercial property owners under immense pressure to make their working environments Covid secure, such as complying with new social distancing measures by introducing new layouts. However, the increase in arson attacks has meant the focus on readjusting some premises removed a lot of concentration on fire safety matters.

This demonstrates how working with a trusted and experienced fire alarm monitoring provider is extremely important. Buildings remain vulnerable to arson at times of closure, so a quick response limits the chances of a blaze causing serious damage to a building, its occupants, or any by-standers. A fire alarm monitoring system also increases the chances of catching the perpetrator and alerting the relevant authorities. Businesses should never fall into the trap of assuming it will never happen to them. A fire alarm monitoring system could quite simply be life saving.

Fire alarm monitoring is getting smarter

The future of fire alarm monitoring is unfolding and evolving more rapidly than ever with technological developments adding a constant stream of capabilities to boost efficiencies. The integration of IoT within the fire safety industry carries with it invaluable benefits towards keeping assets and people safe. Connected devices are able to offer on-site engineers more detailed data to more efficiently provide routine servicing to the fire alarm monitoring systems. This will aid to reduce overall spend on personnel callouts, and streamlining service schedules.

Linked to this is IoT enabled devices that can provide real-time secure mono-channel data about their status – identifying any functional irregularities whilst also keeping the device safe from online security threats. This connectedness will also enable devices to increasingly supply more accurate recording of critical device performance auditing by assessing overall fire alarm monitoring system performance and efficiencies, also helping improve future product development.
